Windows Subsystem for Android: Is It Worth It?

As the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) continues to roll out, many users are left wondering if it's a viable alternative to traditional emulators or native Android devices. I've been exploring this topic myself, and I'm eager to hear from others about their experiences.

One of the main advantages of WSA touted by Microsoft is its ability to seamlessly integrate with Windows 10. However, upon closer inspection, I haven't seen any clear benefits over using an emulator. In fact, most of the features I use on my phone – GPS-assisted map navigation, mobile data without WiFi, flashlight, making phone calls and SMS texting, Google Pay via NFC, and FM radio – aren't available on a Windows 10 tablet.

Some users may be drawn to WSA's ability to run Android apps on their devices, but with the limitation that it only runs apps from the Amazon Appstore for now. When there are already excellent emulators available, it's hard to see why anyone would choose WSA over those alternatives.

I've had a similar experience to Ed Bott, who describes WSA as a 'proof of concept.' While it may be an interesting idea, I'm not convinced that it offers enough value to justify its existence. In fact, after months of trying out alternative solutions, I found one that looks and works almost as well as WSA and includes Google Play services.

As someone who's used both Android phones and tablets in the past, I appreciate being able to run multiple operating systems on a single device. Unfortunately, my region is still waiting for WSA, and from what I've read so far, it seems underwhelming.
